Brickmakers Creek, Woodward Park

Welcome to the Brickmaker’s Creek, Woodward Park project page. Design is now under way to naturalise the Woodward Park section of Brickmakers Creek in the heart of Liverpool. Over 1km in length with riparian width of 500 metres, the naturalisation will provide revitalised green open space that increases availability and accessibility to a unique park and natural environment. The Creek area is steeped in our past and will now be part of our future, as the revitalisation caters to our community’s growing needs.

The key activities will be creation of open space, recreation and water sensitive urban design, including;

  • linking the north and south recently completed flood mitigation works
  • water filtration & storage basin
  • display garden
  • creek bed and bank rehabilitation
  • vegetation restoration and native plantings
  • adventure play area
  • inclusive play area
  • modular amenities building
  • community/education/multipurpose building

and in the riparian zone;

  • provision of passive and active recreation play infrastructure
  • picnic areas
  • signage and safety features

The redevelopment will; increase liveability with a new regional open space, improve biodiversity and environmental sustainability of the Creek as a cleaner and natural waterway and reduce the urban heat island effect.
